Many Campaigns, One Struggle

Recently I have been reviewing hundreds of accounts of digital activism for the Global Digital Activism Data Set project.  Indigenous people in South America fight to protect their land against extractive industries.  Bloggers in the Middle East fight for the freedom of imprisoned colleagues.  Women around the world fight against the impunity of rape.

Superficially they may seem different: different locations, different goals, different initiators and outcomes.  But I am coming to think they are all part of the same struggle: the struggle of the many to secure their survival and dignity against the comfort and privilege of the few.
