Recently I have been reviewing hundreds of accounts of digital activism for the Global Digital Activism Data Set project. Â Indigenous people in South America fight to protect their land against extractive industries. Â Bloggers in the Middle East fight for the freedom of imprisoned colleagues. Â Women around the world fight against the impunity of rape.
Superficially they may seem different: different locations, different goals, different initiators and outcomes. Â But I am coming to think they are all part of the same struggle: the struggle of the many to secure their survival and dignity against the comfort and privilege of the few.
